The Baker's Bread -- 66 Days, One Purpose

"Man does not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." Deut. 8:3

Would you like to enjoy disciplined and productive alone time with God? This interactive 66-day Bible study will both inspire and instruct you to establish a consistent "quiet time," one that will daily deepen your walk with the Lord. In this book, which has taken me 20 years to produce, I share insights into my own time with God, as well as many of the valuable truths that I have learned about the Baker (God) and His Bread (His Word). I would recommend this guide to all believers, but it is geared particularly for new or young believers or those who struggle with understanding the purpose of Scripture intake.

A Closer Look at the Books

If you would like to spend more time studying a particular book of the Bible, perhaps you would enjoy these verse by verse commentaries. They are organized in a short devotional format, but they provide other passages for further study. Also, each commentary has an overview of the book, helping you identify the underlying themes and leading ideas.

Biblical Worldview

I am convinced that many Christians today do not think "Christianly." They may have regenerate hearts but they have degenerate views of the world. While God may have their souls, Satan has their minds. They have been taken captive by worldly ideas, instead of taking all ideas captive to the obedience of Christ. Thus, I have studied in this area for quite some time, even as God has changed my own thoughts on many issues. The notes in this book are the record of my own pursuit of wisdom and a gift that I want to leave my family. It is called, "Uncommon Sense," and it briefly documents my understanding of what the Bible says about many critical issues of life. Topics include truth, morality, life, family, religion, government, Darwinism, humanism, socialism, Islam, and many more.

Also, I am including a link to a free worldview test, so that you can see how "Christianly" you think.

Did God Have a Plan for America?

Most Americans do not know that our country has a Christian heritage, that our forefathers came to this land for religious liberty and to propagate the Gospel. The United States is a bi-product of the Protestant Reformation, and the institutions that the Founders established were based on Scriptural principles, a biblical worldview. America was to be the great missionary nation, a light to all the world of what the redeeming power of the Gospel can do in the lives of individuals and societies. But, if that was our heritage and our purpose, what has happened that we have the godless culture that we see today? Find out, as I lay out the rise, success, and fall of the United States, in a series of articles called "TruView."

Biblical Manhood

I believe that my most important assignments are to cultivate my marriage and to train my four children in a way that pleases the Lord. I've found that marriage and parenting are the hardest, and most wonderful, adventures I've ever undertaken in life. Therefore, I plan to post a few of the things that God has convicted me to put into place, like a family mission statement, weekly family meetings, family policies, and intentional training with regards to my three boys.

Salt & Light

I am blessed to be a part of a Student Leadership Program at our school. We are concerned about the incredible rate at which we (the Church) are losing our teens, once they leave home. Thus, the Salt & Light Program is our attempt to equip young people to be ready to battle the worldviews and faith challenges that await them. Below are pieces of the curriculum that we have developed in the areas of leadership, worldview, evangelism, and apologetics.

The Leader's Edge

It is a joy to serve in the children's ministry at our church. We are currently using the "Gospel Project," which is a three-year LifeWay curriculum that progresses through the entire Bible. Children are hearing many of the key stories of the Old and New Testaments, but all of them point to the redemptive work of Christ. Thus, the kids are hearing the Gospel every week! To help the small group leaders grasp the bigger picture of each story, as well as the key gospel principles, I write a weekly devotional called the Leader's Edge. The LE incorporates the assigned passages, summarizes the events, and offers cross-centered commentary and some thought-provoking questions. They are a great way to get a "Cliff Notes" version of the Bible and catch a glimpse of the amazing work God has done on our behalf.

Note: The Set numbers do not match the numbers on the Leaders Edges. I adjusted for the times when we paused for Christmas and Easter.

Devotions

One of my favorite ways to share what God has done in my life is through devotions. These are brief Bible studies for small groups, with straight-forward applicable principles to be used by any believer.
